The Harvard Veterans Alumni Organization was founded by one of our Vietnam Veterans, who felt that it was time to set the record straight, regarding the significant and proud military service the men and women of Harvard University have provided our country.
Few seem to be aware that, there are thousands of living Harvard Veterans, from World War II to Iraq and Afghanistan, and many currently serve at the forefront of American politics, education and business. Few also know or appreciate the fact that more than 1,200 Harvard graduates have given their lives in uniform, 17 of which have received the Medal of Honor.
Among other goals, HVAO plans to pursue a full, proper and current accounting of the scope of this service, to bring our /Veterans the recognition and honor due, both within the Harvard Community, and in the general media and public beyond.
MISSION STATEMENT
We shall provide an independent forum for all members of the Harvard University Community – students, alumni, faculty and staff – who have served, or are serving, in the United States Military to advance collegial, educational and professional interests. We shall also remember and honor those Harvard Veterans who have preceded us.
We shall pursue this mission as an honest, professional non–profit member organization, in a straight forward non-partisan manner, with utmost respect for both Harvard University and the United States Military.
